Harrods is an upmarket department store on Brompton Road in Knightsbridge and an important place for tourists. I was there few weeks ago.
Harrods began his history in 1849 when Charles Henry Harrod, a tea merchant and grocery wholesaler, opened his small grocer’s in Brompton Road. From that moment it was a continuous growing. In 1898 it was installed the first escalator in London.
Today Harrods is one of the most famous department store in the world; it has 7 different floors which sell everything for women, men, babies.
Besides the many beautiful objects to admire (purses, precious jewelleries..), the ambient inside is very nice, coloured, with many lights and glasses .Of a huge beauty is the Egyptian Hall with columns and Egyptian decorations and the Dodi and Diana’s Monument for commemorating the death of the princess and the son of Harrods’ owner, Mohamed Al Fayed.
To be visited is the Food Hall with high quality products and, on the second floor, the so-called “Christmas World” where you can find everything for Christmas decorations: candles, trees, balls, and so on. It’s pure magic!
You can’t forget to see “Harrods World” with its typical Harrods bags of several colours and designs.
